Lent is the traditional Christian season leading up to the celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. It is a time of contemplation, repentance, wildness, and grace. Join us throughout these forty days and beyond as we journey through the wilderness of our lives.

First Christian Church of Decatur’s Lenten theme for 2026 is “Going to Seed”. Based on the book of the same name by Kate J. Neville, we will make our way through themes of nature, rest, and resistance during this season. With meditations on creativity, rest, resistance, slowness, detours, restraint, and attention, we will undertake this cycle of renewal and, in time, emerge re-created.
