The time between Pentecost and Advent on the liturgical calendar is known colloquially as ‘Ordinary Time’. However, this season of the church is far from ordinary! This summer, join First Christian Church of Decatur as we delve into the meaning of leadership, community, and belonging.
Our theme for Ordinary Time 2026 is “If This is the Way the World Works”. Based on the book of the same name by William Avery & Beth Ann Gaede, we will examine the ways that God made the world to work together and the ways that our gathering together can mirror these truths. With meditations on information, complexity, interrelatedness, diversity, process, trust, and responsibility, we will learn together how God would have us to lead the way into this new season of our lives together.
