Toy Park FAQs
Q: How do I reserve the park pavilion for events?
A: Fill out a reservation request form here! The reservation fee is $75 per four hour block (plus a $50 custodial fee). Church staff will confirm your reservation or suggest alternative dates if your requested date is unavailable.
Q: How will people know I have reserved the pavilion?
A: The afternoon/evening before your event, church staff will post laminated signs notifying park users that the pavilion has been reserved. While not guaranteed, neighbors have been respectful thus far and we have not had any issues to date.
Q: Where are the restrooms?
A: One restroom is available across the street at Chalice Thrift from 10 am til 2 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays (excluding holiday weekends). There are also restrooms available at Dancing Goats coffee down the street.
Q: Are bouncy houses allowed in the Decatur Toy Park?
A: Bouncy houses are not allowed in the Decatur Toy Park. There is no power available in the park and generators are not permitted due to noise concerns.
Q: How can I stay up to date on park clean-ups and community events?
A: Join the Toy Park mailing list here for monthly updates on park events!
Habitat Restoration Project
Park History
In 1999, residents of the Ponce de Leon Heights neighborhood joined hands with members of the First Christian Church of Decatur to revitalize 1.3 acres of church property with the goal of creating a community park. In three years we raised nearly $50,000 and transformed the lot into a verdant green space for free play and organized activities.
